Carnaby Street

Massive coat hangers for entrance to Kingly Court

Crazily busy laundrette, just off Carnaby street

Huge plug socket at the top of a building
Graphic and t shirt print shop with unique and unusual designs.

King's Road

King's Road, in Chelsea, can be associated with the swinging sixties and punk seventies. Although the area doesn't have any of its old character, it is still one of the best and most varied places for shopping. Especially the rich and beautiful like to shop in the one-off boutiques and designer stores.

Vivienne Westwood opened her shop, Sex, in 1971 on King's Road when punk was still big. Today, the name has changed into World's End, but it still sells Westwood's Anglomania range.

Go to the Chelsea Teapot if you're feeling like eating some cupcakes and having some tea. The decor makes the place even more welcoming, with its cute cups and pastel-coloured chairs.

Henry J Bean's Bar and Grill has one of the most famous beer gardens in London, and although the drinks weren't amazingly strong during happy hour(5 to 7pm),  the bar is still worth a visit.

If you get bored of the expensive shops down the road, go to the Saatchi Gallery instead.

Knightsbridge

Harrods, 4th Floor
Vivienne Westwood Dragon Berry Shoes £110

We decided to stop this girl for her individual style mixed with mainstream trends. Animal print is huge this season and her faux fur coat is a must have for any girls wardrobe. The red Dr. Martins compliment her red hair really well and bring together her outfit as a whole. Overall she stood out from the crowd and didn't fit the expected style of a typical Harrods customer.

The superman jumper instantly grabbed my attention when I saw this girl in Harrods on the ladieswear floor. This strong popular graphic is the focal point of this outfit and the rest contributes to the simple and unique style. Her red glasses are really quirky and fun.

There was a huge amount of real fur in Harrords which has always been a strong political topic. I don't agree with the use of real fur.

This small corner cafe named Gran Caffe Londra was thriving when we exited Harrods and the beautiful cakes on display looked delicious but a slice of one wasn't cheap!

This small hat boutique was hidden down a little alleyway next to a large construction site and is the perfect place to satisfy your needs for any type of hat, from winter wooly to trilby. The amazing white spiral staircase was the main focal point inside the store which added to the white antique style furniture. Marie Mercies' window display was outstanding, with so much going on the attention was still on the beautiful hats. This window is a must see in Knightsbridge!

Delicious miniature cupcakes were available for as little as £2 (good for round there!) at the Knightsbridge Green Hotel.

We stopped this girl as she stepped off the bus, the orange scarf and teal winter coat clashed but complimented each other at the same time. I loved the over the knee socks and shoes. Overall her style was on trend with a personal twist. The flower in her auburn hair was cute.

New apartment/office buildings on Brompton Road.

The door man at Harrods looked really smart and typically English with his bowl hat and long coat. He was really happy and polite which made a lasting impression on me and my friend.

The doorman at the Sheraton Hotel.

This striking grey layered dress was in the window of Hollie de Keyser on Brompton Road.

As we were walking towards the V&A Museum, this girl was walking the opposite way. Her necklace was an amazing pair of bright red lips. Her leopard print jacket is very on trend and paired with the necklace and black t-shirt look quirky and unique. She had a gorgeous white Vivienne Westwood shoulder bag which you can't quite see in this picture but was very typical Westwood.

..my West London life

Your inspirational, independent guide to West London:

Covent Garden

Muffinskis, 5 King Street: Really good 99% fat free frozen yougurth and fresh out of the oven muffins to die for. Standard 1.80 pr muffin, but in return they are incredably delicious.

Food: Chez Gerard, French quisine with prices ranging from 7 pounds and up for starters/food, and really good drinks from 5 pounds. The prices are not very student friendly, but the wiew is absolutley beautiful, and although the klientel is quite posh, its an experience to go there just to take in the french vibe, eat lovley food and gaze out over Covent Garden.

Food / Snacks: Candy Caces, Bottom floor in the square, Covent Garden. Candy caces sells delicious, rainbow coloured cupcaces that will melt even a heart of stone, If u want to tell someone your sorry, if you want to express your love for that special someone or if u just want to stuff your face with delicious treats, this is the place for you. The atmosphere is taken rigth from sex in the city, and has a girly vibe to it that you have to see to belive. U can also get gift boxes, special photo caces and design your own cupcace or real cace. No matter what you choose, its delicious and reasonably priced.
Special accessories, Ganesha, 38 King Street: Ganesha is a fair trade partnership formed by Jo Lawbuary and Purnendu Roy, with shops on London's South Bank and Covent Garden. They import quality home furnishings and accessories from India, sourced from / developed with co-operatives and producer associations. Extending markets for marginal(ised) producers and supplying the UK with life-enhancing goods, we are supporting an alternative vision of trade. The bags amongst other things are really special, made from cans of soda and braided together in the traditional sense of basket making they have in Africa & India. Some of the more special pieces are even made from palm tree and coconut, and some even from bark from the naturally grown trees, they look absolutely stunning, and so this shop is worth a visit.

Portobellooooo Market

Cute, Quirky, famous and fashionable= Portobello Road Market.

Fashion!!!portobello was crammed full of food, food smells..everything food..it was the best smelling place to be!places we visited included 'beeme'which was an amaaaazing fro yo shop with so many different flavours and toppings you could be in there all day, the hummingbird bakery..dotted around london they opened in 2004 and just keep growing - there is no stopping them!!they first introduced Whoopie pies before the media went crazy for them and their cakes have such a weight to them you just know they are going to be so so tasty!!i recommend the carrot cake..WOW!

Fashion!!well I would say it is on par with the food shops with the amount of unique boutiques and little vintage thrift shops..it was just a dream come true..if you don't find inspiration here..well you would be walking around with your eyes closed my friend!!'The Cloth Shop' is this ammazzzing fabric shop located at 290 Portobello Road it is definitely  well worth a look, it has been running for 17 years and has built up a reputation amongst film producers for costume material and interior designers for furnishing fabrics..other places to visit would be 'Baby Ceylon' very friendly staff and lovely one off pieces in their collections located in the Portobello green arcade, 'Their Nibs' is also a lovely shop on Kensington Park road it was founded by Fiona Bell and it is full of vintage childrens clothing. Their collection dates back to the 1960's.

Entertainment....how would we live without some excitement in our lives!?!?!Portobello has a lovely little pop up cinema as well as one of the oldest working cinemas in the country; Electric cinema. Both are well worth a visit and if you are in the area around Halloween time the electric cinema is hosting an all-nighter showing vintage 80's horror films! The Notting hill area is packed full of galleries..some exhibitions taking place at the moment include, Jacky Tsai, a collection of prints on silk, at the salon contemporary (82 Westbourne Grove) who was the man responsible for Alexander McQueen's floral skull print. Vessel (114 Kensington Park road) is showcasing a collection of work by the renowned Finnish glassware designer Oiva Toikka. There is loads going on...wander about side streets you are bound to find something that takes your fancy...be prepared though..you need at least 29 hours in a day to see 1/8th of the Notting hill area..but you won't regret it!!

When people talk about this place, they always seem to be blagging about it... maybe it's because they are so proud to be associated with a place, that everyone knows is cutting edge. Or Maybe it's because they feel so much passion. Either way everyone knows it's great!
